What is "Media & the Public" about?
Our knowledge about the world is mediated by computers and smartphones, television screens and newspapers. Both private and public interactions are transformed by innovations in media. An understanding of how media landscapes and public spheres are being reshaped helps us address questions about how to design the future.
Students will learn the significance of media for science and technology, as well as the specifc ways it allows us to percieve and communicate new things. They will identify not only opportunities but also typical problems that arise in interactions between media and science, and they will understand ways to engage with, create and reflect critically on the public sphere. Whether in conveying research findings, in teaching, or in corporate communication: Media literacy fosters connectivity.
