Leading Diverse Teams: How to Create an Inclusive Work Environment

Event |

“Diversity is being invited to the party. Inclusion is being asked to dance.” Verna Myers

At this point, we have heard quite a bit about diversity and unconscious biases. However, there is much more to learn about this topic! For example, do you know how to create an inclusive climate in your team? Do you know how to empower and support others? Do you know how to encourage potentially difficult conversations around diversity?

This workshop focuses on the behaviors that make team members feel appreciated and valued. An inclusive team creates a sense of belonging that will encourage its members to stay curious about differences and bring their authentic self to work. This, in turn, has the potential to enhance their performance. Using an evidence-based approach, we will give practical advice on fundamental topics, such as how to speak intelligently and respectfully about diversity and inclusion, as well as how to create and maintain an environment that promotes continuous learning.

Your takeaways

  • You will understand the difference between diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness.
  • You will further develop and articulate your awareness and personal philosophy on these topics.
  • You will learn to identify and establish practices to cultivate a more inclusive environment in your team.

The workshop will be dynamic and interactive. In addition to the input from the course instructor, you will be given the opportunity to practice the skills and techniques discussed. Furthermore, there will be enough time to work on your specific questions and cases.
