Beschreibung
"Never again!" The crimes of the Nazi regime are one of the darkest chapters in German history.
The Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial not only commemorates the inconceivable suffering of those persecuted and murdered as a result of the Nazi regime, but is also an appeal to the responsibility of future generations to prevent a repetition of any totalitarian-barbaric regime.
In cooperation with and under the direction of the Max Mannheimer Study Center in Dachau, the two-day event is dedicated to these tasks in the form of a guided tour and workshop. On the one hand, it shows the lives and work of people who, despite all their differences, have one thing in common: imprisonment in the Dachau concentration camp.
A wide variety of (historical) documents, such as autobiographical testimonies, photographs and film sequences, open up perspectives on people's lives during the Nazi period and beyond. On the other hand, it deals with the necessity of a culture of remembrance, with the different phases of confrontation with the time of National Socialism in the Federal Republic.
On the basis of individual groups of former persecutees, it will be shown, among other things, how marginalization and discrimination continued to have an effect in the Federal Republic.
The event will take place on site in Dachau on the first day and will be continued on the second day at the TU Munich, Arcisstraße.
